Ngauruhoe (also known as Mount Doom from Lord of the Rings). It was a perfect weather day. This is considered the top day hike in NZ and we can see why – truly a life experience! Lots of other international hikers so not much solitude but an amazing day.
Tongariro Crossing hike is a one-way hike so you need a buddy to drop you and pick you up or there are several companies that provide that service. Tom chose Tongariro Expeditions and was happy with them.
This was during our home exchange in Lake Taupo, New Zealand.
